The 2011 Cash & Co Classic Results
|
The inaugural CCC was held at Barnbougle Dunes and The Lost Farm over the weekend of May 27, 28 & 29, 2011 and was a helmet-full of fun for all involved. 16 unscrupulous bushrangers lined up for a 54-hole shootout with Stableford on Friday, Par on Saturday and Stroke on Sunday.

One of the great highlights of the weekend was served up by Liam Anderson on the Sunday at Barnbougle Dunes. After attacking the short par four 12th hole off the tee and missing the small green to the right, Liam had a sandy lie among the Marram grass with a near impossible shot. His ball was well below the level of the putting surface and he had to clear a green-side bunker. Not only that, he was short-sided with the pin cut very close to the bunker and the green sloping away from him after the hole. Above we see Liam hitting the shot and below we see him celebrating with Sebastian Shand who was amazed to see the ball just clear the bunker, take a couple of hops and go straight in the hole for a remarkable eagle!
It turned out to be a pivotal moment in the event - a few hours later, Liam was crowned one of the inaugural Cash & Co. Classic Champions. After a super weekend of golf and jocularity, a great time was had by all and the CCC individual and team titles came down to the scores on the final hole of the weekend.
