Arbeige & Dee go B2B at The 2008 William Buckley Classic

B2B_champs_1.JPG

For the second year running, Roger Brown and Michael David have triumphed in the William Buckley Classic by the narrowest of margins. In 2007, they won at 13th Beach Golf Links by a single shot from the 2006 champions, Seve and Da King. This year, the event was played at Cape Schanck and The Legends Course at Moonah Links. At the finish, just four shots separated the top four teams and the reigning champions held on by a single shot when Arbeige holed a Danny De Vito (a nasty little 5-footer) on the final hole to clinch the title. For more info, check out the 2008 WBC Results page. In 2009, the William Buckley Classic will return to the 13th Beach Golf Links in Barwon Heads.

“I just try to put it on the fairway, then the green and not three putt.” - Peter Thompson (1929 - )

The inspiration for Bushranger Golf was the very social golf event, The Bushranger Cup. The tournament was founded in 2004 for teams of four players to enjoy testing their golf wits, skill, course management, temperament and, most importantly, jocularity. As is the tradition, the reigning champions play the event as "The Kelly Gang", being the most recent and most famous of all Bushrangers. To read all about the golf gangs and their on- and off-course management skills, have a look through  the Golfers page with profiles on Bushranger Golfers from all our tournament programs. The  date and venue for The 2009 version of this premier social golf event will be announced very soon. Below are some more words of wisdom from our new Great Golf Quotes page in The Campfire.

“Go out and have fun. Golf is a game for everyone, not just for the talented few.” - Harvey Penick
