The 2007 William Buckley Classic Results

The second William Buckley Classic was held over the weekend of Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th of August 2007. The venue was the Beach Course and the Creek Course at the 13th Beach Golf Links in Barwon Heads, just a spear chuck away from one of Buckley's regular homes on the banks of Bream Creek.

The accommodation was on course at the salubrious Hawthorn Suites Apartments and the format was 2-ball ambrose stableford over 36 challenging holes.

When: Saturday & Sunday August 11 & 12
Where we stay: On course at The Hawthorn Suites
Where we play: The Beach & Creek Courses at 13th Beach Golf Links
How: 36 holes of golf in luxury golf carts all the way
Who: You and your mates playing in two-ball ambrose teams

The tournament was contested in good spirit and the competition was tight all the way with only eight shots separating the top 10 teams and 13 shots between first and last place.

After 36 holes of 2-ball ambrose stableford golf, it all came down to the last hole on Sunday, with the three leading groups finishing within one shot of each other.

The defending champions, Da Kingo & Seve, had a putt on the 18th to tie things up and force a playoff, but couldn't get a 12-foot curling slider into the cup, leaving their playing partners, Mikey Dee and Arbeige, as the 2007 William Buckley Classic champions. The fast finishing Funky J and Macca were the clubhouse leaders at that point after storming home with the best round of the tournament that included a stellar 6 under par effort on the back nine on Sunday. They finished in a tie for second with the defending champs. The final placings were:
