The 2012 Kelly Gang Shootout Results

The 7th Kelly Gang Shootout was held at Rich River Golf Club over the weekend of July 21 & 22, 2012 and was a helmet-full of fun for all involved. Seven unscrupulous teams lined up for a 4-player per team shootout with 2-ball ambrose on the Saturday and 4-ball ambrose on the Sunday making it a 54-hole event. The teams were:

The Glenrowan Hacks: Matthew Thomas, Jeremy Dray, John Smith & Andrew Berry
The Stringybark Creek Freaks: Matthew Pitt, Rob Lugton, Andrew Yates & Eddie Mascitti 
The Beechworth Boys: Neil Hocking, Nick Mouhtaropoulos, Gavan Doran & Nick Sutherland  
The Frosty Beveridges: Shane Morris, Joe Bugeja, Brian Davis & Bob Spicer
The Jerilderie Gents: Peter Rowe, Philip Smith, Paul Gray & Wayne Ball 
The Benalla Burglars: Mark Henderson, Chris Hall, Leo Ryan & Michael McCombe 
The Euroa Removalists: Damian Lovell, Tony Floro, Daniel Hanly & Trevor Clinnick

When: Saturday & Sunday July 21 & 22 
Where: Rich River Golf Club
What: A 36-hole siege for teams of four playing two & four-ball ambrose 
Why: For loads of fun, camaraderie, adventure, glory, trophies & prizes
Entry$355 for BRG members ($370 for non-members).
Bookings: Anyone can enter and payment is required one month prior
Extras: A warm up event from noon at Rich River on Friday July 20
Package: The 2012 KGS package includes:

  • Two nights at the Rich River Golf Club Resort
  • Two cooked breakfasts & two meal vouchers
  • 36 holes of golf in carts on Saturday & Sunday

After a thrilling weekend of golf and jocularity, a great time was had by all and The Glenrowan Hacks stole the championship with a super finish to the tournament where they birdied four of the last five holes to run away with the title. Below we see the new champs (Jeremy Dray, Andrew Berry, Matthew Thomas &  John Smith) posing with The Glenrowan Perpetual Trophy.
