Event Details

With the support of The AFL Life Members Association and the AFL Premiership Players Club (AFLPPC), Bushranger Golf has partnered with the Hawthorn Suites and 13th Beach Golf Links to develop a charity golf event in support of The Reach Foundation and the Victorian Prostate Cancer Research Consortium. Past AFL players will donate their time to play in four-ball ambrose teams with three members of the public at 13th Beach in Barwon Heads. The event was originally planned as a 36-hole shootout in April 2008, however due to the time committment required, it has been restructured and rescheduled as an 18-hole event folloewd by a dinner with option of accommodation available on-course at the 4½-star Hawthorn Suites. The planned date is Thursday October 9, 2008. Details will be confirmed on this page very soon.

  • The 30 teams (120 golfers) will each have three members of the public partnered with a past VFL/AFL player – most of whom are members of the AFL Life Members Association and/or the AFL Premiership Players Club.
  • Participants all recieve a welcome pack, including golf hat and accessories with thanks to The Golf Clearance Outlet
  • All participants will have golf carts available for both rounds, thanks to 13th Beach and Club Car Australia.
  • Club Car Australia have generously offered a hole-in-one prize of a deluxe Club Car golf car.
  • The charity dinner is fully catered by Sean's Catering and includes beer, wine supplied by Brown Brothers and soft drinks supplied by Cadbury Schweppes.
  • The event proceeds after costs and any additional revenue raised (auctions etc.) go to support The Reach Foundation. Reach works with young Australians in five states to help them improve their self-belief and fulfil their potential by gaining a greater sense of control over their lives. Brownlow Medallist Jim Stynes (OAM) is a keen golfer, and the CEO and a co-founder of Reach.
  • The AFL Premiership Players Club is a supporter of the Victorian Prostate Cancer Research Consortium, a research based consortium, that provides funds to medical researchers, for laboratory and clinical research into prostate cancer. Some of the charity auction items will be  designated to support the Victorian Prostate Cancer Research Consortium.

More details will be posted here soon, including ticketing information, past AFL players attending the event and corporate sponsorship packages available. For more information or to enquire about booking, please Contact Bushranger Golf.
